The Best Ways to Plan for an Efficient Relocation

The Best Ways to Plan for an Efficient Relocation

Packing up, getting the place ready to sell, finding a new one, and managing life, in general, are bound to bring on unusual stress when preparing for a move. One way to ease those tasks while keeping your sanity is to get ahead of the process. Preparing to sell before your listing day can often make all of the tasks much easier. Use these suggestions early on along the way to a smooth process both during the departure and arrival stages of your move.

Preparation, cleaning, Decluttering, and also Refreshing

Your home should present a fresh, tidy, and otherwise comfortable retreat with a feeling among visitors that one could quickly and simply move right in without much work. Pre-pack ahead of time during the decluttering phase to save time and place seasonal products that your household will not need for the next three-to-six months in tagged boxes so that opening them can be done on an as-needed basis. This is also a great time to discard books, garments, and furnishings that served your household well but will likely no longer be needed.  After decluttering, complete small repair work, cleaning and painting to ensure that it sends the right message.

Hire a Trusted Lender

Did you know that a direct local lender can help you with both homes if employed before the sale? Once your home sells, you may need a mortgage to buy in your new location. A home lender can help you navigate through the closing procedure with your present residence and get you pre-approved for a loan on the new property so that the process can get underway faster with your new house, saving time and money through the use of one firm for both selling and buying within the same time period.

Consider Hiring a Staging Professional

Decluttering is among the first rules of successful home staging along the way to an efficient sale.  Consider reducing belongings to the bare minimum early on with attention focused on closets and countertops among other areas before working with a stager to limit the investment in that endeavor, even if it is for their hourly rate simply to get ideas to use toward your pathway in the right direction.

Get Good Digital photography

The right photographs are crucial to obtaining multiple, highly desirable offers for your home.  Plan to make them count with clear, tasteful shots of the best property features, the ones that first attracted you to the property, keeping the area, parks, shopping, and other area amenities in mind.  If your home is ideal for larger families, go with that by highlighting the finished terrace level, large backyard, extra storage space, and additional sleeping and play areas.  If you’re planning far enough, consider exterior shots during the different seasons when, for instance, there’s snow on the roof, during the onset of fall when the leaves turn colors, and so on.  Offsite, make a big deal about the special parks, library offerings, proximity to the mall, and more.  Need to appeal to a home office worker?  Again, consider the extra storage space, room with extra built-in outlets, proximity to office supply places, and more.

Advanced planning will certainly make your move easier both during the departure and arrival stages, so take some time to sort things out before the mayhem begins.  Fortunately, all of the resources are available to Metro Atlanta Home Owners with one call.  Please call me, Solomon Greene, Drake Realty, Inc., at (770) 271-2156 or write me for more home preparation checklists, photos, and staging tips.  I’ll also provide a list of trusted local lenders, stagers, photographers, and handypersons along with ideas and ways to plan ahead for your next move.
